Another important recognition rewards the research at the Institute of Communications, Information, and Perception Technologies (TeCIP) at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa.

On the next May 22, Dr. Nicola Sambo, Assistant Professor at TeCIP in the “Communications” Area, will receive the Charles Kao Award for Best Optical Communications & Networking Paper due to the paper entitled “Sliceable Transponder Architecture Including Multiwavelength Source” and published in 2014 on the IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications & Networking (authors: Nicola Sambo, Antonio D’Errico, Claudio Porzi, Valeria Vercesi, Muhammad Imran, Filippo Cugini, Antonella Bogoni, Luca Potì, Piero Castoldi).

The paper has been published in one of the most relevant journals of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology.

The award (http://www.comsoc.org/about/memberprograms/comsoc-awards/kao) – entitled to the Nobel Prize Charles K. Kao, considered the “Father of Fiber Optics” – will be given to Dr. Nicola Sambo during the IEEE International Conference on Communications in Paris.

After a vote, the Awards Committee of the Communications Society assigns an award of 2.000$, given the innovation, the quality, the exposition, and the impact characterizing the aforementioned paper.

The Communications Society, founded in 1952, is composed of more than 8000 members and it is a leader in the publications of journals, conference organization, and educational program promotion in the context of communications technologies and information networking.
