DREAM research area
DREAM (Data, REsearch and Analysis on Migration) conducts research activity in the field of migration, asylum and rights of migrants adopting a multidisciplinary perspective that includes sectors as constitutional law, European Union law and comparative law. A peculiar attention is paid to the linkages between welfare and migration, international protection, citizenship, free movement of persons within the European Union, governance and migratory flows, environmental migration and climate change. The DREAM research area runs several European projects together with national and international partners, including the Jean Monnet Module entitled: "Migration, Asylum and Rights of Minors" (MARS); the FAIR Plus project "Fostering Access to Immigrant's Rights - Practical training for Lawyers and JUdgeS" and the project Demetra.
May 2021: Series of seminars "The rights of migrant children in practice". The webinars are aimed at analyzing the legal status of children in migration along the migration routes to Europe.

IMMIGRATION AND ASYLUM LEGAL CLINIC
Thanks to the collaboration with the Specialized Section on immigration, international protection and free movement of citizens of the European Union of the Court of Florence, in 2019 we have also launched the legal clinic on immigration and asylum ⇒ Watch the video
Morevoer, thanks to the collaboration with the Court of Florence, we have been carrying out various researches on immigration and asylum matter. So far, three Country of origin reports have been realized:
The Immigration and Asylum Law has also elaborated two third party interventions before the European Court of Human Rights, presented on the 4th November 2020, toeghter with the Legal Clinic “Coesione e diritto” of the University of Catania:
- third party intervention in the case S.B. and Others v. Italy, Application No. 12344/18
- third party intervention in the case M.R. v. Italy, Application No. 13302/18

During the academic year, advanced education courses are organized within the DREAM research area. Our training are intended to professionals and scholars interested in deepening the issues of immigration and asylum. Specific collaborations have been activated with public bodies and organizations at national and international level, including: ASGI (Association of legal studies on migration), Italian School of the Judiciary, ICJ (International Commission of Jurists), also in the framework of EU-funded projects (FAIR plus - Fostering Access to Immigrant's Rights - Practical training for Lawyers and jUdgeS, 2018-2021 - and FAIR - Fostering Access to Immigrant Children's Rights, 2016-2018). Among the various initiatives, the Permanent Training Center on the law of foreigners is led in collaboration with ASGI at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.

Training centre on immigration law
Several events on immigration and asylum matter have been organizing:
- Training Modulo in tema di protezione internazionale, protezione complementare e diritto di asilo alla luce delle evoluzioni normative e giurisprudenziali a livello europeo e nazionale (23-25 May 2019).
- Summer school on the rights of migrants:
DREAM also carries out third mission activities, organizing events aimed at developing a wider awareness on immigration and asylum issues, for the purpose of understanding social phenomena and building more inclusive societies. According to this, numerous collaborations have been initiated with third sector institutions and bodies, including the Comitato 3 Ottobre
