MeS - Management and Health
A dynamic learning community developing knowledge and tools for health system management, innovation management and governance, with the ultimate goal of improving population health.
Founded in December 2004 by Professor Sabina Nuti, the Management and Health Laboratory (MeS) is one of the three research areas of the Institute of Management at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. Since 2019, it has been directed by Professor Milena Vainieri.
The Laboratory’s mission is to advance knowledge and develop competencies that contribute to the progress of both scientific and professional communities working in the field of health. Through the study and analysis of complex systems, MeS conducts applied research and develops methods and tools to support policymakers, healthcare professionals, and healthcare organizations, fostering the use of evidence in governance, management, and innovation processes.
A distinctive feature of the Laboratory is its close collaboration with public institutions and healthcare system stakeholders. Through action research approaches, MeS helps bridge the gap between academia and practice, working alongside organizations to address emerging challenges and develop data-informed solutions.
Twenty years after its foundation, the Laboratory renewed its identity, evolving from “Management and Healthcare” to “Management and Health”. This change reflects a broader perspective focused on population health and the multiple factors that influence it.
