International recognition: Flavia Manzo Margiotta, PhD student in Translational Medicine, received the Young Investigator Award at the European Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation (EHSF) Congress
Flavia Manzo Margiotta, a third-year PhD student in Translational Medicine at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, received the Young Investigator Award at the European Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation (EHSF) Congress, one of the most important scientific conferences dedicated to hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The aim of the congress is to bring together dermatologists, surgeons, researchers, representatives of patient organizations, and industry to share the latest scientific discoveries and improve the management of patients with HS.
Flavia Manzo Margiotta was awarded for her research on the identification of imaging biomarkers in hidradenitis suppurativa, integrating thermography and ultra-high frequency ultrasound data. During the congress, Manzo Margiotta also presented the preliminary results of her PhD project on cardiometabolic disease modification in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa treated with biological therapy.
