The Food of the Future. Paolo Barberi, Full Professor at the Institute of Plant Sciences, Takes Part in the Conference Organized by the Accademia dei Lincei
Paolo Barberi, Full Professor at the Institute of Plant Sciences of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, is among the speakers at the conference “The Food of the Future”, scheduled for May 14–15, 2026, starting at 9:30 a.m., at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome. The conference is part of a series entitled “The Future of Humanity”, aimed at promoting public awareness of the major issues concerning human progress and the future of humankind, while fostering dialogue among experts from different backgrounds and fields of interest.
Paolo Barberi will speak during the session dedicated to new food production systems with a presentation entitled: “The Agroecological Approach to the Management of Agri-food Systems.”
His contribution will focus on the research activities carried out by the School’s Agroecology Group on topics such as functional biodiversity, agroecological weed management, crop diversification, and the reduction of dependence on chemical inputs. Particular emphasis will be placed on the experience of ALL Tuscany, a Tuscan Living Lab involving researchers, farmers, institutions, and other local stakeholders in the co-design of agroecological solutions for local agricultural systems.
