HE BIOROBOTICS INSTITUTE AND INAIL LOOK FOR PEOPLE WITH AMPUTATION OF FINGERS TO PERFORM EXPERIMENTAL TESTS ON PROTOTYPES DEVELOPED IN PPR3 PROJECT

The BioRobotics Institute of Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and INAIL (National Workers’ Compensation) Prosthetic Center look for people with amputation of fingers to perform experimental tests on prototypes developed in PPR3 project (Development of Prosthetic Finger Phalanges).

The aim of the experimental tests is the development of research on the prosthetic finger phalanges. PPR3 is an innovative project which aims to develop novel active and passive articulated prosthetic fingers. These will be controlled intuitively through non-invasive interfaces and able to deliver natural sensory feedback. PPR3 wants to develop modular prosthetic solutions which can adapt to both the level of amputation and number of amputated fingers. The system has a particular clinical interest because it is easy to implement and does not presuppose any invasive operation on the patient.

The collaboration between the BioRobotics Institute and Inail has got a further impulse with the creation of the REPAIR Lab (Rehabilitation Engineering and Prosthetics Applied Innovation & Research). The aim of REPAIR Lab is to bridge the engineering research and development with the rehabilitation activities conducted by physicians and therapists in direct contact with the patients.
