INDUSTRY 4.0: SANT’ANNA SCHOOL HOSTED A WORKSHOP ON AUGMENTED REALITY FOR TECHNICIANS. SPIN-OFF COMPANIES VRMEDIA AND WEREABLE ROBOTICS PRESENTED THEIR AR DEVICES, A tool for digital tech transformation

Sant'Anna School, University of Florence, University of Brescia and the IbisLab - RISE (Research Innovation for Smart Enterprises) organized a successful workshop session on Augmented Reality Systems for Technicians - "La realtà aumentata per il tecnico del futuro: a che punto siamo” under the auspices of the Community ASAP Service Management Forum.

Workshop events have become an effective tool in the world of digital technology transformation. Within the ASAP service management community, Sant’Anna School TeCIP (Perceptual Robotics) Institute spinoff companies VRMedia and Wearable Robotics have discussed service management benefits, innovation and products with Whirlpool EMEA S.p.A., Ricoh Italia, Schneider Electric, PAMA SpA, ABB, and Istituto Nazionale INAIL representatives.

The event provided presentations on the latest AR immersive technology developments for technicians (end-to-end interactive field service for equipment manufacturers and users, remote experts sending visual instructions to field technicians using real-time augmented reality devices) and the Exoskeletons.

Participants were able to explore how AR emerging technologies and the Sant’Anna School Artes 4.0 Competence Centre are revolutionising the role of service management for technical teams, developers, and technology entrepreneurs. Massimo Bergamasco, professor of perceptual robotics and the director of the TeCIP Institute, together with keynote speakers Franco Tecchia, Mario Rapaccini and Lorna Vatta presented the expected advancements of AR platforms in the near future (interfaces with IoT sensors to provide real-time diagnostics and repair protocols, AR glasses permitting technicians to transmit video of equipment and repairs in real time, etc).

Lorenzo Salusti (BHGE) and Massimo Aretini (Goriziane group), presented the Kiber Helmet developed by VRMedia: the next generation AI helmet smart assistant that can make video recordings and support technicians in remote operations enabling real time bidirectional communication.
