JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT BETWEEN SANT’ANNA, NORMALE AND IUSS: THIRD ROADMAP WORKSHOP TAKES PLACE ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY 20 - 21 MARCH IN PAVIA
From year to year, greenhouse gases emissions rise and the warming effect of gases increases due to carbon dioxide. The “Center for Climate Change studies and Sustainable Actions” - 3CSA is dedicated to addressing the greatest challenge faced by our society and finding real-world solutions to environmental issues.
On March 20-21, the third roadmap workshop will be held at the IUSS School of Pavia, bringing together IUSS rector Michele Di Francesco and researchers from Sant’Anna School and Scuola Normale Superiore to discuss the collaborative projects and the interdisciplinary research combining physical, natural, social and human sciences. Under the supervision of Roberto Buizza, professor of physics at Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences, 3CSA aims to contribute to the development of strategies for coping with the environmental change.
The aim of the workshop will be to discuss, extend and validate the action plan (released in July 2018) on issues of sustainable development, environmental governance, and resource management from ecological and social perspectives.
The plan focuses on risk management and the transition to a green economy through the environmental sustainability. In addition, the 3CSA aims to deliver training courses to raise awareness for socially responsible professionals and future leaders in environmental science, policy, and business. The 3CSA research center offers the opportunity to combine the interdisciplinary approach with a problem-based learning approach, asking graduate and postgraduate students to propose innovative solutions to complex environmental problems.
Higher-education institutions recognize the crucial role that they can play in raising awareness and understanding of climate change among students and local community. Research teams within the three university will cover a wide range of issues relating to climate change mitigation and adaptation developing climate impact scenarios and engaging directly with stakeholders in joint efforts to improve the environment.
