REHABILITATION ROBOTICS AND INNOVATIONS IN PERIOPERATIVE MEDICINE: POR FESR TOSCANA 2014-2020 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SANT’ANNA SCHOOL BIOROBOTICS INSTITUTE SUPPORT THE ARCONTE PROJECT FOR A PATIENT-FOCUSED DATA PLATFORM

ARCONTE is a health data integrated repository platform that provides a more comprehensive view of the patient experience assuring continuity of treatment for the entire perioperative episode of care (preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative, and post-discharge period). ARCONTE is a supported project under the Por Fesr Toscana 2014-2020 funding program. In partnership with Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute, R.J.C. Soft srl (project coordinator),  the  Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale - Università di Firenze, Mehrit srl and Value Innovation Competitiveness Sustainability Consulting, the project received financial contribution from the Tuscany Region Authority to make patient information interoperable, accessible, and reusable.

During the perioperative episode, ARCONTE will ensure that best practices (Fast Track) are applied in a consistent way to every patient undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery. At each step, administrative, pre and post-surgery, patients will be informed, educated, and involved in the treatment planning.

By applying these practices, ARCONTE Platform will be extended with features that can monitor the hip and knee replacement surgery, while providing relevant and useful medical information. The project intends to combine innovative solutions into an integrated framework designed for an effective health management along the complete care cycle:

  1. Data are continuously introduced to the platform so that the information is constantly updated;

  2. Data are effectively integrated, managed, delivered, and displayed to improve patient-doctor interactions (chat, alert, etc.);

  3. The platform couples a comprehensive data repository with rehabilitation-integrated services for patient auditing and mobility process monitoring. This combination can improve care coordination by providing remote access to information and allowing system interoperability.
