SANT’ANNA AND NORMALE ARE READY TO WELCOME NEW PHD STUDENTS: BOTH INSTITUTIONS HOLD THEIR FIRST JOINT ADMISSION CEREMONY ON FRIDAY, 24 NOVEMBER 2017

Sant’Anna School and Scuola Normale Superiore will hold their first joint admission ceremony for new PhD students on Friday, November 24 at 9.30 am in Palazzo della Carovana - Scuola Normale Superiore. Sant’Anna School and Scuola Normale Superiore, as the two higher education leading institutions in Pisa with the greatest synergy of community engagement and teaching experiences, have invited all newly admitted PhD Students to attend the welcome event and learn more about graduate programs and research jointly offered to national and international students.

Professor Vincenzo Barone, director of Scuola Normale Superiore, Professor Pierdomenico Perata, rector of Sant’Anna School, Professor Yves Mény, president of Sant’Anna School, Professor Andrea Ferrara, deputy rector of Scuola Normale Superiore and Professor Piero Castoldi, Delegate for Master’s Degrees and PhD, Sant’Anna School, will meet the new PhD Students.

Newly admitted students will hear from a panel of current and former students how to enhance their graduate student experience and learn about community resources available to them as students of Normale and Sant’Anna. Francesca Feo, PhD students representative at Scuola Normale Superiore, will give her talk “Who does what, when and how? Organization and representation at SNS and SSSA”; Mariateresa Lazzaro, ADI-Pisa Coordinator, Doctoral Students and Researchers Association, will talk about “Doing a PhD in Italy: ADI Italian Association of PhD students” and Maria Lorena Florez Rojas, PhD Student of Sant’Anna School will give her talk on “What if I am an International PhD Student? Sant’Anna Students International Network”.

A total of 174 students were admitted to the Phd programs: Sant’Anna admitted 90 students (656 total applicants) and Scuola Normale admitted 84 students (565 total applicants).

Foreign students compose 30% of total Scuola Normale and Sant’Anna enrollment.
