Mechanics of transducers: course at University of Pisa,

Teachers: Marco Fontana (responsible) and Rocco Vertechy (60h, 6 credits)

This course aims to provide an introduction to constitutive models of multifunctional materials such as piezo-electrics, magneto-rheological fluids, dielectric elastomers and shape memory alloys. In addition, the working principle of sensors, actuators and generators that make use of such multifunctional materials are provided in the form of problem exercises. Students are asked to solve a simple design problem as an independent project, with the exam consisting of an interview.
