Innovation in weed science: from herbicide resistance to electric weed control

The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies hosts the seminar by Prof. Marcelo L. Moretti, Associate Professor of Weed Science at the Department of Horticulture, Oregon State University (Corvallis, Oregon, USA).

The seminar will address the ongoing transformation in weed management, from the evolution of herbicide resistance to the integration of emerging technologies such as electrical weed control, precision agriculture, and robotics. Drawing on examples from specialty crop systems, the talk will illustrate sustainable strategies to reduce reliance on herbicides while improving agroecosystem health. Prof. Moretti will also highlight collaboration opportunities through the ECOWEED project, led by Sant'Anna.

Prof. Moretti will be visiting Sant'Anna on the same day to attend a workshop held in the morning.
