Tiny Transposons, Big Effects: How MITEs Organize Chromatin to Shape Gene Expression
Plant Lab Seminar Series 2026
Seminar on Plant Molecular Physiology
On May 25th, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna will host a new appointment within the Plant Lab Seminar Series, dedicated to current advances in plant molecular physiology.
The seminar, entitled “Tiny Transposons, Big Effects: How MITEs Organize Chromatin to Shape Gene Expression”, will be delivered by Pablo Manavella, researcher at The Institute for Mediterranean and Subtropical Horticulture “La Mayora” (Spain).
The presentation will explore the role of Miniature Inverted-repeat Transposable Elements (MITEs) in chromatin organization and their impact on gene expression. Particular attention will be given to the molecular mechanisms underlying small RNA biogenesis and their involvement in post-transcriptional gene regulation and chromatin remodeling.
The event will take place in the Aula Magna of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Piazza Martiri della Libertà 33, Pisa) and is open to students, researchers, and all those interested in plant biology and molecular genetics.
