Bio

I obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology in 2015 (full marks, cum laude) and M.Sc. Degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology in Basic and Biomedical Research in 2017 (full marks, cum laude) at “Sapienza” University of Rome. In 2017 I won a Ph.D.

I obtained the Ph.D. in Biorobotics in 2021 (full marks, cum laude) defending a thesis entitled “Pushing the boundaries of skeletal muscle tissue engineering with multiple biophysical stimulations” in the Regenerative Technologies Lab, led by Professor Leonardo Ricotti (https://www.regenerativelab.it/). In August 2021 I started working as a Postdoctoral fellow at The BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in the Regenerative Technologies Lab as a researcher leading and supporting several research activities and managing a whole work package of a national project (MIO-PRO ).

Ricerca

During about 6 years as a researcher, I had the opportunity to have various experiences in research, scholars’ supervision, and team management. After an initial focus on the study of molecular biology and neuronal differentiation during a year and a half master's thesis internship, I brought my expertise in this area to the field of tissue engineering of skeletal muscle in a research field at the interface between engineering and biology. I have thus been able to work in a multidisciplinary environment characterized by engineers, chemists, and physicians.

I am now working on integrating different biophysical stimuli to be applied in the lab for skeletal muscle tissue engineering focusing on 3D bioprinting to fabricate a macroscopic functional, electrically excitable muscle constructs.

My goal is to combine engineering and biology to develop new clinical approaches for treating muscular system diseases.
