Bio
Gianluca Biggi is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Economics of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. He got a PhD in Management from the University of Pisa in 2021. He has been a Visiting Researcher at the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin in 2023, the Department of Science and Technology Studies of the University College London (UCL) in 2020 and Visiting Researcher at the MIT Sloan School of Management in June 2018.
Ricerca
His research focus lies on exploring the nature and dynamics of innovation. During his PhD, he contributed to the development of a novel methodology combining the extraction of the chemical content from patents with computational chemistry techniques to understand the nature of chemical inventions. Currently, his research centres on investigating the interplay between green and digital technologies and their impact on firms' performance. To achieve this, he utilizes various data sources, including patent data and surveys on firm-level adoption of green and digital investments.
He has received the following recognitions:
- Industry and Innovation: Inclusion of the paper “The Noxious Consequences of innovation: What do we know? ”in the collection of 30 impactful research articles published in the journal across its different Editorships to date (April 2023)
- DRUID Conference 2023: Nomination for the Best Paper Award from Industry and Innovation (January 2023)
- AREA Science Park: Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertation using Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) (January 2022)
- Academy of Management (AOM): Best Reviewer for the 80th Annual Meeting of the AOM (August 2020)
- Academy of International Business (AIB): Nomination per il Premio AIB - Aalto “That’s Interesting Award!” (May 2020)
