Our network

SuM Lab works and collaborates with different actors: businesses, policy makers, private institutions, citizens, local communitiesIn public sector, the main ones include the Ministry of the Environment and several regional and local authorities.
Our network from the private sector includes the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria), the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Artisanship and national organizations such as Corepla, Conai, Comieco, GS1 Italy.
Our projects are principally funded by the European Commission.

In addition, SuM’s network includes top Italian companies from different sectors such as ENI, Versalis, Saras (Oil&Gas), ENEL (Energy), Mutti, Heineken, Sammontana (Food&Beverage), Unicoop (Food&consumer goods), Lucart (Paper industry), KME Italy (Minerals), HERA Group, A2A (environmental multiutilities), Vodafone (Telecommunications), Terna (Electricity), Bulgari (Fashion), Autostrade per l’Italia, Ferrovie dello Stato (Transportation), Acque SpA (Water services), Geofor (Waste) as well as many SMEs.

We are member of the International networks EERA (joint programmes Geotermal and E3s), SPIRE platform and PREPARE. We collaborate with other Sant’Anna Institutes for the deployment of ad hoc technological solutions for sustainability (e.g. Blue Resolution project). We are part of the academic system of the University of Pisa together with Scuola Normale Superiore, and we also collaborate with other top Italian academic institutions such as IUSS in Pavia, LUISS in Rome and Uni Bocconi in Milan.
Our Director, Prof. Marco Frey, is the president of the United Nations Global Compact Network Italia
