Bio

Lorena received her BSc in Systems Engineering from Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Ecuador in 2009. After her bachelor studies, Lorena worked for Smartwork S.A. and Produbanco S.A. in Quito, Ecuador, where she was software developer and systems manager, respectively, until she joined into University of Calabria as Ph.D student in 2013. Lorena did her doctoral internship in the Computer Vision Research Group, at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2016. In 2017, she obtained the Ph.D degree in Science and Technologies of Complex Systems from the University of Calabria, Italy. From 2017 to 2020, she worked as a Researcher-Lecturer at the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, University of Yachay Tech, Ecuador. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow at The Biorobotics Institute - Regenerative Technologies Lab.

Research

In image analysis, my main aims are to design and implement image analysis algorithms to detect and extract objects of interest as people, moving objects, soft tissues. As well as the analysis and classification of medical and microstructural images.
