Bio

Mattia Franchi de’ Cavalieri is currently a research assistant at The BioRobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in the Soft Mechatronics for BioRobotics Laboratory.

He received the BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome and the MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering (cum laude) from the Università Campus Bio-Medico, Italy.

He is currently a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at University of Florence in collaboration with the IRCCS Stella Maris and the BioRobotics Institute.

Research

His research interests focus on the design and development of innovative solutions based on soft and/or wearable technologies that can be employed in various areas of interest.

In the neurodevelopmental field, he implemented new methodologies for aiding the clinical upper limb motor evaluation in ecological environments using wearable sensors. Moreover, he is participating in the international TECH-TOYS project for the development of a set of soft sensorized toys for the grasp forces detection of infants with brain lesion in their first year of life.

He is currently involved in the Italian project SOFTNESS lead by Prof. Matteo Cianchetti, that aims at sensorizing a soft arm for multifunctional purposes with soft sensor technologies.
