Nadia D'Alessandro is a research fellow at the BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in the Surgical Robotics and Allied Technologies Area. She obtained a Bachelor degree with honors in Biomedical Engineering in 2020 at the University of Bologna with a thesis titled "Study and Simulation of Fluid Dynamics Effects of Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion in Atrial Fibrillation Patients". She pursued her Master's degree with honors in Bionics Engineering in 2023 at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the University of Pisa. Throughout her master's program, she developed a keen interest in mechatronics and robotics, particularly for applications in minimally invasive surgery. She conducted her thesis "Design and Development of a Steerable Catheter Tip for Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion" within the scope of the ARTERY European project. She gained experience in the field of Finite Element Analysis, and in design and actuation of steerable catheters, particularly for cardiac applications.
