CONFLICT MANAGEMENT: A VALUABLE CONTRIBUTION TO PEACE PROCESS IN SUDAN, 50 PARTICIPANTS ENGAGED IN THE TRAINING PROGRAMME ORGANIZED BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, PEACE RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND ITALIAN EMBASSY IN KHARTOUM

Italy plays a relevant role to foster peace process in Sudan where a first training programme for conflict management will be held in October. On Sunday, October 16, the “Training Programme for Conflict Management” organized by Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the Khartoum University Peace Research Institute with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international cooperation organizations and the Italian Embassy in Khartoum, offers the first lesson to 50 participants.

This training course represents a challenging task in post-conflict Sudan and the 50 participants involved in 5 day programme will learn Conflict Resolution, Facilitation/Mediation and Negotiation Skills to be used at national and regional level.

This programme offers a valuable contribution to social and cultural awareness, with a special focus on media communications and cultural policy enhancing local capacities to bring the culture of peace and sustainable development.

Andrea de Guttry, Professor of International Law at Sant’Anna School, will give his lectures together with Sudanese experts of Peace Research Institute and of African Union organization. The Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Lobasso is also involved with the programme, taking into serious consideration his work on cultural awareness and intercultural understanding to guarantee continuity in the relationship between Italy and Sudan.
