International cooperation between Italy and Cameroon plays an important role in promoting and advancing the “rule of law” (Legal and Constitutional Affairs regulations). Sant’Anna School and Ministry of Justice of Cameroon are continuing the training partnership to create a community based on law and on respect for human rights. A new training course for 50 judges and magistrates of Ministry of Justice of Cameroon and ENAM (École Nationale d’Administration et de Magistrature du Camerun) is being held in Yaoundé (Cameroon).

The training course is co-sponsored by ENAM (École Nationale d’Administration et de Magistrature du Camerun) and by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The course is coordinated by Andrea de Guttry, professor of international law, director of Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development).

The program is aimed at judges and magistrates working in a range of organizations who are interested in the development and regular review of Codes. The 4-modules course is taught by leading academics and on the basis of lessons learned and best practice examples from conflict-affected states it offers a comprehensive introduction to the rule of law from theory to practical application. It will focus on complementary fields of practice to offer examples of approaches to international cooperation in the field of crisis management and to promote core human rights principles.

The second part of the training program will be held in Yaoundé, May-June 2017, with a “training of trainers” initiative. The training-of-trainers is focusing mainly on the technical aspects. The program is aimed to form a pool of trainers who will in turn train the trainers on promoting and protecting Human Rights.
