“The celebration of Earth Day is the occasion to take stock of the activities carried out by the Scuola Sant’Anna for our planet. It would be impossible to itemize all of them, but they are detailed in our sustainability report. The Africa Project is one among many instances; it involves all the Research Rnstitutes of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in an effort to find solutions to help African Countries in the energy transition process embedding it in an ecological framework.

Energy transition is a key asset to achieve economy, availability and accessibility of resources; Multiple research groups are currently offering diversified approaches to the decarbonization challenge; changes in production and consumption dynamics are enhanced by circular economy that can propulse an evolution towards a more efficient management system, aimed at improving the environment by consuming fewer resources.

Consumers are also invited to take part: citizens must first and foremost give a signal to Companies. As Chair of the Global Compact, I can attest that businesses, along with institutions and citizens, are committed to meeting the challenge of sustainability.

In recent weeks we are drafting a document to involve small businesses in the supply chains of various materials so they can take part in the transformation process in a concrete perspective of sustainability. Together, we are working towards achieving the Goals set by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable and Inclusive Development”.
