International Law Association: International Law Scholar of Sant’Anna School Institute Dirpolis appointed as member to the Human Rights in Times of Emergency committee

The International Law Association (ILA) has appointed Emanuele Sommario, researcher of International Law at the Institute Dirpolis (Law, Politics, Development), as member to the Human Rights in Times of Emergency Committee.

The International Law Association was founded in 1873 “for the study, clarification and development of International Law” and to enhance international understanding and respect for international law. Headquartered in London, the International Law Association organizes a series of Biennial Conferences throughout the world and provides a forum the endorsement of the work of its 23 committees. The resolutions and reports issued by the committees have played a key role in delineating the boundaries of the doctrine of public policy as a result of the specialist skills and expertise of their officers.

The Human Rights in Times of Emergency Committee’s objectives are pursued through the work of 30 scholars and experts from 25 different nations including a judge of the European Court of Human Rights, a former member of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and a panel of United Nations experts on human rights. The Committee reports shall be submitted to the Kyoto ILA Conference in 2020 and Lisbon ILA Conference in 2022.
