Students have until April 15 to submit an early bird registration for the "ePIXfab Silicon Photonics Summer School". Applications for the 2019 program are open until 15 June 2019.

The course is designed for beginner and expert participants to learn all the way from basics of Silicon Photonics science to applications of the next disruptive technology in an ever-growing set of areas.

ePIXfab, a European alliance that promotes silicon photonics science and technology for the development of silicon photonic circuits, the Sant'Anna School TeCIP Institute and Ghent University organize this ePIXfab Summer training in Pisa under the supervision of Giampiero Contestabile, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications of the TeCIP Institute.

Hundreds of people from academia and industry have attended the ePIXfab workshops and public events. In particular, workshops and poster sessions will provide the participants with an opportunity to interact with world-renowned experts of silicon photonics and discuss the latest developments in the silicon photonics.

In 2019, industrial and academic experts from across the globe will be delivering tutorials on hot-topics and emerging developments in Passive Silicon Photonics, Laser Integration, Quantum silicon photonics, Biosensing using silicon PICs and Assembly and packaging of silicon PICs.

"I have had the immense pleasure of attending and giving a lecture at the ePIXfab silicon photonic summer school in 2018. The school was superbly organized with important topics covering devices, packaging, applications and new opportunities in silicon photonics. This is also an excellent avenue for students to interact with experts and be inspired! I will surely encourage my students to attend this 2019 event” Professor David Marpaung, University of Twente (The Netherlands).
