Physicist Roberto Buizza will deliver his talk “Climate Change: how can we motivate transformation?” on Monday, May 11, 1.00 pm, at the Stockholm University webinar “The Bert Bolin Climate Lecture 2020” annual lecture series honoring the memory of Professor Bert Bolin.

Professor Roberto Buizza from the Institute of Life Sciences is currently coordinating the Sant’Anna School, Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Superiore IUSS Pavia joint initiative on the transformational change needed to reshape the current response to climate change.

By highlighting the government policy for adaptation, Buizza emphasizes our responsibility in expanding participatory mechanisms: “Climate change is here, and we have to deal with it. Observations give us evidence of what is happening, and science helps us understand how we got here. Technology is available to address the problem, and the investments needed to transform human activities are manageable. Yet, why have we not taken impactful actions? Why do governments keep talking about future goals, while they fail to put in place policies that can trigger immediate and effective actions? We are required to discuss these aspects and enhance motivation for a radical transformation.”
