The first Observatory in Italy on experience and outcomes reported by chronic patients was born from the international project PaRIs (Patient-Reported Indicators) organized by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development).

Through the collaboration between the Management and Healthcare Laboratory and the Italian Ministry of Health, the observatory was designed for allowing the systematic collection of experience and outcome measures of the primary and chronic care, and supporting the improvement of efficacy and efficiency of the healthcare systems in the patients perspective. In the pilot phase, the project includes a questionnaire to the directors of districts, one to the general practitioners who coordinate an aggregation of family doctors, and one to the healthcare services’ users aged over 45 years.
