Call for admission to the PhD in Translational Medicine

The PhD Programme in Translational Medicine aims to provide the state-of-the-art in teaching and research with the ultimate objective of training future leaders in a research endeavour applied to clinical medicine. The PhD programme has an exceptionally multidisciplinary and international approach and proposes to create opportunities in the field of translational medicine. Particular emphasis is placed on the integration between experimental and clinical research in the area of cardiovascular sciences, with the aim of translating results into novel and more effective diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. A qualifying part of the curriculum is centered on basic and applied research towards development and validation of new drugs, nutraceuticals, therapeutic nanovectors and biomedical devices. On completion of the Programme, each student will have acquired a high level of training not only in experimental and clinical methodology, but also in the most advanced techniques for successful research according to a state-of-the-art translational medicine.

Number of positions available

6 positions with scholarship (1 position is reserved for citizens of NON-EU Countries)

of which:

  • 1 position is reserved for applicants who submit a research project on "Cardio-neuro-metabolic disorders and/or applied biomedical technologies" (Curriculum: "Physiology and Molecular Medicine") and is funded by the Institute of Clinical Physiology, CNR, PISA
  • An additional scholarship  funded by the Laboratory for Management and Health of the Scuola is available and reserved for candidates submitting a research project on the specific theme: “Management of particularly complex healthcare pathways in the fields of cardiology and oncology” relevant to the “Systems Physiology and Pathophysiology, Experimental and Clinical” Curriculum.
  • An additional scholarship, funded by Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, is available and reserved for candidates submitting a research project relevant to the “Drug discovery” Curriculum.

The number of positions with scholarship may be increased if further funding becomes available.
