Bio
I am a Ph.D. student in "Health Science, Technology, and Management".
My background is in Philosophy and History of Science, and I obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. During my Master's, I studied Bioethics and the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
My studies have primarily focused on the doctor-patient relationship, using an interdisciplinary approach encompassing political and legal philosophy, care ethics and virtues, and the social history of medicine.
Research
My research addresses ethical challenges in care relationships. I propose a relational framework based on proximity networks – the interconnected roles of patients, caregivers, and professionals – where autonomy is defined as shared and context-bound. This perspective not only reframes patient engagement and shared decision-making but also brings attention to the ethical complexity and emotional burden placed on caregivers, advocating for more balanced and responsive care structures.
