On June 19, at 9:30 a.m., the event "Vita indipendente: una sfida per la Toscana" will be held in the Aula Magna of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies — a moment of discussion and reflection on the right to independent living and on the commitment of the Tuscany Region to building inclusive, fair, and sustainable pathways.

Through dialogue between institutions, experts, social and healthcare professionals, and individuals directly involved in independent living projects, the event aims to highlight the value of self-determination and social inclusion. Starting from the concrete experiences of local communities, from international and regional legal frameworks, and from forward-looking training programs, the discussion will help define shared strategies to strengthen policies that support the autonomy of people with disabilities.

The event will open with institutional greetings, followed by a session of presentations focusing on the regional implementation of the UN Convention, the 2026 training plan for local areas, and the establishment of the Regional Observatory for Independent Living.

The morning will conclude with a roundtable discussion giving voice to the experiences of Tuscany’s healthcare organizations, regional institutions, and individuals who have personally embarked on a path toward independent living.

All speakers and presentations are listed in the official program.
