Target and theme
The International Day of Peace was established on November 30, 1981 and the official date is September 21, a day on which it is asked to stop hostilities and to commemorate the Day through educational and awareness-raising activities on the theme of peace.
The constant search for peace and the "salvation of future generations from the scourge of war" are the two main objectives mentioned in the United Nations Charter of Services to which member states have adhered.
The 2022 theme of the International Day of Peace is: "Eliminate racism, build peace".
