Bio

Lino Cinquini is full professor of Management Accounting and Business Administration at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies since 2004. Previously he had professorships at the University “Parthenope” of Naples (2001-2004) and at the University of Pisa (1998-2001 as Associate Professor, 1992-1997 as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer). He holds a PhD in in Economia Aziendale (Business Administration) from the University of Pisa in 1990. 

His research areas are: Management Accounting, Cost management, Strategic Management Accounting, performance measurement and management in private and public sector, and Accounting History; integrated use of financial and non-financial measurements for performance assessment and issues of effectiveness of management accounting and costing systems;evolution of manufacturing companies towards service systems and the application of measurement and control systems in these contexts; performance measurement, its validity and the impact of digitalisation; actor reality construction and performance management methods; evolution of business reporting, with particular reference to non-financial models and indicators related to performance reporting on ESG/SDGs dimensions.

He has been visiting/invited professor at the University of Edinburgh (UK)(1997-2002), at the Aarhus School of Business (DK)(2003; 2008) and at the Tampere University of Technology (FIN)(2008). 

He is in the Teaching Faculty of the PhD in Management of the Scuola Sant’Anna of Pisa and currently a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change, Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, Journal of Public budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, History of Accounting eJournal, Economics and Law: A Convivium, Financial Reporting,  Management Control, MECOSAN. Former Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Management and Governance from 2016 to 2023, now in the Advisory Board.

Research Board Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) (UK), chair of the Scientific Committee of OIBR (Organismo Italiano di Business Reporting) and Vice-President of IMA (Institute of Management Accountants)-Italy Chapter.
