International Open Access Week: Open for Climate Justice

2022 International OA Week
Back to Library

October, 24-30 2022

This year’s theme seeks to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community. Sharing knowledge is a human right, and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries.

We want to point out a very small part of the many connected initiatives.

In the Library you can find a selection of academic publications in Open Access, downloadable on your mobile device through a QR code, on the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Wiley’s RISE collection -Research in support for equity- addresses the theme Open for Climate Justice. You can freely browse papers, interviews, blogs and social contents (#OAWeek).

Among the Wiley’s documents we point out: 3 Key Elements for Climate Action in Publishing - Published Date October 21, 2022 - Author Jon Ray, Director, Environment Sustainability, Wiley.

IOP Publishing have brought together research that is related to the UN sustainable development goals, from studies about droughts and wildfire hazards to the feasibility of refreezing arctic icecaps. This dedicated Sustainability Collection  is free for anyone to read.

IOP also made a great video to explain how open access to research can help solve the climate crisis.

OpenAIRE (Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe) also participates in the International OA Week: they have prepared two series of webinars that will showcase the different ways in which we can all work together and make Open Science a means to tackle the challenges ahead of us.

  1. Series 1, OpenAIRE services and Climate Justice
  2. Series 2, Open Science impact in policy making for climate change
