Registration is now open for the Bioblitz “Monte Pisano,” a nature event scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the Parco della Ricordanza in Montemagno (Calci - Pisa). The event is organized by the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa, in collaboration with the FRAMEwork Project, in which the Sant'Anna School participates with the Agroecology Group of the Institute of Plant Sciences and the Agroecology Desk of Calci.

The Bioblitz is an initiative involving citizens and experts in zoology and botany, aimed at identifying animal and plant species found in an area. This year, the proposed initiative has a duration of 3 hours and focuses on the Parco della Ricordanza di Montemagno (Calci, Pisa) and its surroundings, as an area affected by the September 2018 fire. An exploration of the park and surrounding areas accompanied by botanical and zoological experts is planned to observe and monitor the plant and animal biodiversity of the area. In particular, a search and identification of species of amphibians, reptiles, pollinating insects, degrading insects, orchids and nitrogen-fixing legumes will be carried out.

Initiative is free with reservations required at the link:

Researchers from the Agroecology Group of the Institute of Plant Science of the Sant'Anna School with other experts invite the public to “immerse themselves in the rich biodiversity of Mount Pisano” by joining them “in this guided exploration.”
