The advanced training course “Investigation techniques in the field of terrorism and cross-border organized crime” (June 17-19, 2025) was held in the Nigerien capital Niamey for Nigerien magistrates. The initiative was coordinated by the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, with the essential support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and in partnership with the Ministry of Justice of Niger and the École de Formation Judiciaire du Niger (EFJN).

The training activity is part of the project “Rule of Law and Cooperation in Africa (2024-2025)”, coordinated by Dr. Lorenzo Gasbarri, which has seen the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies engaged for several years in training and capacity-building activities in various countries on the continent. The support provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassies in the region has always been crucial to the success of this activity.

The course brought together Nigerien magistrates and international experts, including Prof. Avv. Pierpaolo Rivello, Procuratore Generale Emerito at the Court of Cassation, and aimed to strengthen the skills of local magistrates in conducting investigations in the field of terrorism and transnational organized crime, with a particular focus on the use of the most effective legal and investigative tools available to judicial authorities.

Testifying to the importance of the initiative, the Italian Ambassador to Niger, Roberto Orlando, took part in the opening ceremony, emphasizing the strategic value of cooperation between Italy and Niger in the field of justice and security.
