GreenAgers 2025: two days in Casciana Terme and Lari to educate younger generations on sustainability, with the contribution of researchers from Scuola Sant’Anna and volunteers from Progetto .TER.R.Æ.

Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, the second edition of GreenAgers took place between Casciana Terme and Lari, a project dedicated to first-year middle school students, conceived by the Progetto .TER.R.Æ. Association and carried out in collaboration with the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.
Over the course of two days, more than 100 students participated in a rich program of activities, including lectures, creative workshops, and sustainability-themed games, with the goal of promoting greater environmental awareness and stimulating critical thinking on issues related to the planet’s future.
From the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, researchers Marta Fundoni, Martina Mariani, Agatha Costanzo, Francesca Albano, Gabriele Bernardi, and Tiziana Iannuzzi from the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Sustainability and Climate took part, contributing with talks and hands-on activities to the dissemination of scientific knowledge on environmental sustainability.
The morning was filled with lectures and upcycling and recycling workshops, where students engaged in creating insect hotels and artworks made from discarded technological materials.
During the event, the theme of this year’s creative contest was presented, challenging participants to create a digital or analog artwork inspired by the theme "What can I do to make the future sustainable?". Along with their visual piece, each student must submit a green idea, a short descriptive text containing a concrete and original proposal for a greener future.
The educational journey of GreenAgers will continue with a plogging day, an activity that combines physical movement with environmental care, during which young participants will collect litter left in the area.
The final phase of the project is scheduled for May 31, when the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies will host the award ceremony for the best works: a day of celebration and sharing, open to students, teachers, and families, to highlight the commitment and creativity of the younger generations.
GreenAgers proves to be an innovative educational experience, bringing young people closer to the values of environmental sustainability, participation, and civic responsibility.
