A year-long film marathon kicked off this morning (May 13, 2025) at the Cineclub Arsenale with the screening of the short film Come Per Mano. The marathon is scheduled to end on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The idea came from AsteroideA, a Pisa-based association of school volunteers, which collaborates with teachers, students, and friends of the school on a voluntary basis, and was realized with the Cineclub Arsenale.

The following secondary schools in Pisa participated: Liceo Statale “Giosuè Carducci,” Istituto Da Vinci, Liceo Scientifico “Ulisse Dini,” Istituto Comprensivo “Giampaolo Gamerra,” IPSAR Giacomo Matteotti, I.I.S. Galilei Pacinotti, and Istituto Arcivescovile Paritario Santa Caterina.

“We hope that others will join us along the way to carry out this project together, which will be a balm for the civic spirit of Pisa,” said Rosanna Prato, president of AsteroideA. “On May 13, 2026, we will present a puzzle film, made up of parts that all contribute to sculpting the same message (light the beacon within you), but with authors who express the different creativity of the schools.”

The “go” was given by Professor Cesare Stefanini, director of the BioRobotics Institute at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies: "I am happy to speak to the girls and boys of Pisa's schools this morning; time spent with young people is the most precious. The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies strongly believes in this initiative and can be one of the ‘beacons’ for this project, which has already seen some of its protagonists attend our laboratories. We live in a special time because the environment is under threat and conflict in the world is on the rise, but young people must not lose faith in the future. They must nurture their creativity, and this film marathon is an excellent opportunity to grow."
