Discuss the latest news and curiosities of scientific research together... with a cold beer. The popular science event Pint of Science (PoS) is back: pubs are transformed into university lecture halls and host talks, events and seminars on popularising science, with researchers called upon to talk about the latest frontiers of research while sipping a good beer.
The event takes place between 13 and 15 May 2024 in pubs in 24 Italian cities (here is the complete map with info on the events): an opportunity to get together and deepen one's knowledge on topics of great interest and topicality, divided into seven categories: Beautiful Mind (neuroscience, psychology and psychiatry); From Atoms to Galaxies (chemistry, physics and astronomy); My Body (human biology); Planet Earth (earth sciences, evolution and zoology); Technologise Me (technology and computers); Social Sciences.

Talks with researchers from the Sant'Anna School

The Sant'Anna School is taking part in Pint of Science with four talks scheduled between Pisa and Lucca: on Monday 13 May at 9 p.m. at the Caffè Letterario Volta Pagina in Pisa, Debora Angeloni, associate professor of Molecular Biology at the BioRobotics Institute, will present 'Biologia spaziale: la ricerca che sta sia in cielo che in terra', an overview of space biology, a new branch of experimental biology that studies the effects of exposure to space flight on living organisms, and above all on human beings.

On Tuesday 14 May at 8.00 p.m. at Ristopub Gramigna in Pisa,Stefano Palagi, associate professor of Bioengineering at the BioRobotics Institute, will present 'Viaggio al centro del corpo: microrobot "celloidi" per la medicina del futuro' a talk on microrobots inspired by immune cells that will navigate inside the human body to revolutionise the medicine of the future.

On Tuesday 14 May at 8.30 p.m. at the Spaventapasseri in Pisa, science populariser and researcher Marco Martinelli will present the talk 'Io sono la cannabis' (I am cannabis), an opportunity to learn about hemp, dispel false myths, understand the positive and negative effects of its use, and reflect on how to make the most of it.

Lastly, on Wednesday 15 May at 7 p.m. at the Luccalibri bar in Lucca, Francesco Greco, associate professor of Bioengineering at the BioRobotics Institute, will present the talk 'Cyber tattoos: discovering electronic tattoos', a journey into tattoo electronics, from a Spider-Man tattoo, to heart monitoring, to edible electronics.
