Pisa for Giulio Regeni: registrations open for the April 28 event
The event, organized by the University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, is free of charge until all seats are filled. Among the participants will be Senator for Life Elena Cattaneo, Alessandra Ballerini, lawyer for the Regeni family, Emanuele Cava, author of the docufilm, and PhD candidates Oluwafunmilayo Chinonye Samuel and Patrick Zaki Soliman. The day will conclude with a screening of the documentary “Giulio Regeni – All the Evil in the World.”
Registrations are now open to attend the day dedicated to Giulio Regeni, scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Aula Magna of the Polo Carmignani (Piazza dei Cavalieri 6, Pisa). The “click day” will take place on Tuesday, April 22 at 12:00 p.m. on the Eventbrite platform, with 220 seats available.
The initiative is organized by the University of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore, and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna as part of the national program “Universities for Giulio Regeni,” marking ten years since the researcher’s tragic death. Participation is free but requires booking, subject to availability.
The morning of April 28 will open with institutional greetings from the heads of the three Pisan universities: the Rector of the University of Pisa Riccardo Zucchi, the Director of the Scuola Normale Superiore Alessandro Schiesaro, and the Rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Nicola Vitiello.
The core of the initiative will be a public discussion on freedom of research, featuring Senator for Life Elena Cattaneo, lawyer Alessandra Ballerini, documentary author Emanuele Cava, alongside PhD candidates Oluwafunmilayo Chinonye Samuel and Patrick Zaki Soliman, as well as scholars and researchers engaged in human rights issues.
At the end of the morning, several video messages will be broadcast, including those from Giulio Regeni’s parents, followed by the screening of the documentary “Giulio Regeni – All the Evil in the World,” a central moment of the day and an opportunity for shared reflection.
