ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects: the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa ranks seventh in the world in ‘Robotics Science & Engineering’
Seventh in the world, second in Europe, and first in Italy in the discipline of Robotics Science & Engineering. This is the prestigious achievement of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). In the field of robotics and engineering, Sant’Anna confirms its international competitiveness, securing seventh place globally. Among European universities, only ETH Zurich ranked above Sant’Anna.
The ranking is based on nine objective indicators grouped into five categories: internationally recognized faculty; research output measured through publications; high-quality research; research impact; and international collaboration.
ShanghaiRanking first introduced global university rankings by subject in 2009, officially renaming them the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) in 2017. GRAS evaluates universities worldwide across 57 subjects in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
“This result confirms the excellence and competitiveness of our scientific research in a strategic and highly innovative field such as robotics. Our ability to engage and compete with leading international institutions, as this ranking demonstrates, is the outcome of the daily commitment of our academic community and of the School’s overarching vision, always aimed at advancing knowledge and developing cutting-edge technologies. These achievements are also the result of the research-support policies wisely developed in recent years by the Ministry of University and Research, the European Commission, and the Tuscany Region: valuable allies in creating the best conditions to attract talent, develop frontier research, and consolidate steady growth over time" says Rector Nicola Vitiello.
