Research

Nicola’s research bridges the fields of public health and management, with a particular focus on the role of citizens and local communities in supporting healthcare delivery in peripheral and underserved areas, as well as on the social determinants that shape population health in these contexts. For this purpose, he is extensively involved in the development of the Population Experience Observatory in rural areas of Tuscany (Italy), a participatory research platform investigating local quality of life and well-being. He is also passionate about patient-, user-, and citizen-reported measures—including preferences, experience, satisfaction, and outcomes—as tools to enhance the effectiveness and people-centeredness of local public services.
