This cooperation agreement will provide project cooperation, networking and knowledge exchange across academia, policy makers, businesses, and stakeholders in introducing circular economy strategies. The Institute of Management at Sant'Anna School Pisa and the Area Science Park Trieste signed a cooperation agreement to establish various spheres of collaboration including teaching and research, networking, transfer of knowledge and technology, and support for SMEs with innovative circular solutions.

This three-year agreement is intended to be an opportunity to all stakeholders in cooperating to achieve a resilient economy that creates innovation towards greater circularity and resource productivity. The Sant’Anna School Institute of Management has established a growing network of higher education institutions and companies to share their expertise and participate in the innovative solutions to build circular value chains. The Sant’Anna School research teams named SUM (for “Sustainability Management”), and MAIN (for “Management of Innovation”) will work with researchers of the Area Science Park to promote study, research and technological innovation initiatives to accelerate the transition.

“Researchers will support companies in assessing new risks related to the Covid-19 pandemic while mitigating the health emergency, reducing their environmental impacts, and setting ambitious waste recycling targets. To improve their environmental performance companies will need strong collaboration and a circular economy model supporting more sustainable growth. ”, said Natalia Marzia Gusmerotti, as the project coordinator who will ensure the coordination of activities under the cooperation agreement, along with Marco Frey as the scientific coordinator.

“One of the best examples of long-term circular solutions to improve resilience is to measure the impact circular innovation has on business. Companies will develop their business models to enable value and energy efficiency criteria-based approach to reduce costs, share risks and foster responsible waste supply chains.”, said Fabio Morea, as the person responsible for the Ufficio studi of Area Science Park.
