Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Networking

As of the academic year 2009/10, the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the University of Pisa have jointly activated the Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Networking.

The Master’s degree is a joint initiative between:

  • The Computer Science Department of the University of Pisa.
  • The  Communication, Information and Perception Technologies Institute (TeCIP) of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

The degree is jointly awarded by the University of Pisa and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.

The Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering has been created to answer the growing demand for a new professional profile able to master both computer science and networking technologies. Research and industrial fields have recently highlighted the need for further changes and developments, over the next 10-15 years, in communication and computing infrastructures, in order to provide an answer to new and pressing requirements in various areas, such as industrial automation, e-business, research engines, real-time and mission-critical systems, emergency and disaster management, ubiquitous health care, urban sensors, energy source management and many others.

The student will acquire skills to design and build innovative distributed hardware-software infrastructures and will be able to analyse requirements and design distributed service-based applications in various sectors, from industry to commerce, from research to citizen services. The new profile has no comparison in the actual national master’s degree panorama and there are just a few examples at the international level.

The Course has an international character and organisation. All lessons are held in English, this is in order to also attract students from all over the world.
