Children as vulnerable Users of the IoT and AI-based technologies: a multi-level and inteRdisciplinary Assessment (CURA)
CURA project aims at developing new knowledge and share awareness to protect, promote and enforce children's fundamental rights in the digital environment. Access to Internet of Things and AI-based applications and solutions, in fact, had change daily-routine, attitudes and relational behaviors of children and their families, strongly impacting both in terms of risks and opportunities on their well-being and growth. The project will therefore reconstruct and assess the applicable legal frameworks, including child's and family laws as well as data protection, governance and AI regulation initiatives to detect possible regulatory gaps and inconsistencies. At the same time, participatory activities will be launched to collect data among stakeholders and target groups to address the different grounds of children's vulnerabilities before the digital products and services offer both in general-related and tailored scenarios. From this multilevel interdisciplinary assessment, combining comparative, EU, and private law studies on the matter with empirical research in human sciences, blueprint guidelines and policies will be developed and validated among stakeholders for an impactful improvement of the State of the Art.
