SDG 3: Good Health and well-being

Sustainable Development Goal number 3 (SDG 3) aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. This goal is fundamental to building a more sustainable and prosperous future for everyone.
Health and well-being are important at every stage of life, starting from early childhood. SDG 3 focuses on several areas of intervention: reducing child and maternal mortality, combating epidemics, addressing communicable and noncommunicable diseases, and promoting mental health and well-being.
SDG 3 includes several specific targets, including:
- Reduce the neonatal mortality rate to less than 3 per 1,000 live births by 2030.
- Reduce the maternal mortality rate to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030.
- End the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, and combat hepatitis B, hepatitis C and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by 2030.
- Promote mental health and well-being, and increase access to quality health care and support for mental health issues.
Achieving SDG 3 will require a global effort to improve the health and well-being of all. It is necessary to invest in strong health systems, promote healthy lifestyles, and address the root causes of disease.
Everyone can contribute to achieving SDG 3 by adopting a healthy lifestyle, taking care of their mental health, and supporting organizations working to improve the health and well-being of all.
