Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo establishes the Conservatorio Sant'Anna inside a fourteenth-century Benedictine monastery dedicated to Sant'Anna, the current headquarters of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.

The "Mussolini College for Corporate Sciences" and the "National Medical College" are founded in Pisa. Both institutions are annexed to the Scuola Normale Superiore.
