World Environment Day was established by the United Nations in 1972 on the occasion of the establishment of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and has been celebrated every year on June 5 since 1974 with the slogan Only One Earth .

Scuola Sant'Anna dedicates initiatives and events to celebrate the day by involving the Sant'Anna community to spread the culture of sustainability also expressed through the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

UNEP has chosen the theme for 2023: elimination of plastic pollution and has promoted the hashtag #BeatPlasticPollution

In preparation for this day, the events group of the administrative technical staff organized the 1st Sant'Anna Plogging, an event attended by colleagues, families and children united with the aim of cleaning up the Trammino cycle and pedestrian path from waste, in Marina di Pisa.
