The final event of the European project H2020 FRAMEwork, coordinated by Prof. Anna Camilla Moonen from the Agroecology Group of the Institute of Life Sciences, represents an important opportunity to reflect on the benefits of enhancing biodiversity within agricultural systems.

The project fostered the creation of an innovative network connecting research institutions and groups of farmers from ten European countries, ranging from Estonia to southern Spain.

Within this framework, the Agroecology Group conducted a dedicated study on Monte Pisano, aiming to quantify existing biodiversity and assess the role of olive growing in its conservation.

One of the project’s key goals was to demonstrate the importance of cooperation among farmers for the effective management of biodiversity and for supporting the biological control of pests, such as the olive fruit fly.

The event, scheduled for Friday, June 27 at the Frantoio del Monte Pisano in Vicopisano, will bring together key local actors and networks active in the Monte Pisano area, with the aim of fostering new synergies and collaborations in support of sustainable olive cultivation. It will be a moment of exchange and co-design, focusing on strategies to enhance biodiversity—a central theme of the entire day.
