The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa has welcomed Mara Dofash and Mohammad Allahham, the two Palestinian students who passed the public selection process for the award of two scholarships within the PhDprogramme for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The scholarships are funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) as part of the project entitled “Multi-disciplinary action aimed at supporting gender equality education in Palestine”, approved in March 2023. The aim is to promote an advanced training system, with a particular focus on education for gender equality.

Mara Dofash studied at An-Najah National University in Nablus before obtaining a double degree in “Public and Cultural Diplomacy” from Hebron University and the University of Siena. Dofash will begin her research within the PhD in Law programme, with a project dedicated to women's constitutional rights and gender justice.

Mohammad Allahham obtained a double degree in International Law and Human Rights from Al Quds University and Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, United States. In 2023, he obtained a Master's Degree in Global Politics and Euro-Mediterranean Relations from the University of Catania. Mohammad Allahham will begin his studies within the PhD programme in Human Rights, Global Politics, and Sustainability: Legal and Philosophical Perspectives, with a focus on international law and human rights from a comparative perspective.

The two students were welcomed to the School by Rector Nicola Vitiello and the coordinators of the two PhD programmes, Mariagrazia Alabrese (PhD in Human Rights) and Alberto Di Martino (PhD in Law).
