Registrations are now open for the HTE – High-Tech Entrepreneurship course, delivered within the framework of the Joint Technology Transfer Office of the Scuole Superiori (JoTTO), in collaboration with the European EELISA network and Start Cup Toscana. The course is coordinated by Andrea Piccaluga and Alberto Di Minin, professors at the Institute of Management of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

The HTE course is aimed at PhD candidates who aspire to create an innovative start-up, graduates interested in developing their entrepreneurial skills, and early-career researchers wishing to deepen their knowledge of technology transfer. Participants will acquire key knowledge and competences to transform innovative ideas into successful business models across all research fields.

The HTE course aims to provide participants with a solid foundation of knowledge in the following areas:

  • Intellectual property protection and patents

  • University–industry collaboration and commissioned research

  • New venture creation and innovative start-ups

  • Commercialisation of high-tech inventions

  • Business planning and business model development

  • From theory to practice: developing a start-up proposal

Through an interactive, hands-on approach, participants will be provided with the tools needed to develop a start-up proposal and a complete business plan for their entrepreneurial idea, which can be used to apply to competitive initiatives such as Start Cup Toscana.

The course consists of five sessions, for a total of 10 hours of teaching, from 4 February to 16 March 2026. It is primarily intended for students from universities that are part of the JOTTO network and the EELISA network, but it is also open to participants from other universities and research centres. The course will be held in person; students from the Scuola IUSS of Pavia and from universities within the EELISA network will be able to attend remotely.
