Two doctoral scholarships for Palestinian students at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa
The scholarships are funded as part of an initiative by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) involving Italian and Palestinian universities

The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa announces the opening of a public selection process for the award of two scholarships reserved for Palestinian students interested in undertaking a PhD programme for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The two scholarships are funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) as part of the project entitled “Multi-disciplinary action aimed at supporting gender equality education in Palestine”, approved in March 2023. The aim is to promote an advanced training system, with a particular focus on education for gender equality. The Sant'Anna School has joined the project because it believes in the fundamental role of science in promoting dialogue and exchange between peoples and in contributing to the reconstruction of peace wherever it gives way to war and human rights violations.
PhD programmes and research topics
The two positions available are part of two programmes at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies:
- PhD in Law, with a project dedicated to women's constitutional rights and gender justice;
- PhD in Human Rights, Global Politics, and Sustainability: Legal and Philosophical Perspectives, with a focus on international law and human rights from a comparative perspective.
The deadline for applications is 6 October 2025. All information and the full call for applications are available on the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies website: PhD Scholarships for Palestine.
An academic cooperation project
The initiative is part of a three-year project promoted by AICS and coordinated by the University of Perugia, with the participation of the Polytechnic University of Marche, the University of L'Aquila and the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, together with five Palestinian universities: An-Najah National University, Al-Quds University, Palestine Technical University – Kadoori, Bethlehem University and Arab American University.
In addition to funding doctoral scholarships, the project includes mobility programmes for students and teachers and the development of joint research activities, with the aim of consolidating academic relations and promoting the growth of new skills at an international level.
